Everybody loves bubbles.
Bubble baths. Bubble wrap. And especially blowing bubbles.
Each year, more than 1,000 people descend on Times Square in NYC to fight each other with bubble makers, bubble guns and other bubble gadgets.
This flash mob event is loosely based on the classic Dr. Seuss book "The Butter Battle Book," in which the "butter side up" Yooks face off against the "butter side down" Zooks.
What does butter have to do with bubbles? Why do hundreds of people want to blow bubbles in the face of strangers? Who knows? But it sounds fun. Here's a clip from last year's event:
