There's nothing like pulling into a rest stop after a long drive on a hot day, and taking a nice long drink of cool, clear, highly flammable water.

These professionally-printed (but completely fake) signs showed up at the water fountains of a number of rest stops in Pennsylvania, a state which allows fracking, a controversial technique used in getting natural gas out of the ground that can literally turn drinking water into fire water. And we don't mean the old Jesus water/wine trick either, as this video shows:

Here's the reaction of the real Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette:

Kevin Sunday, a DEP spokesman, confirmed that the not-so-subtly subversive sign was not posted by the department. "That's not from DEP," Mr. Sunday said last week, noting that the "E" in the DEP logo on the sign was different from the DEP's real logo.

Oh, really? What about the part that says you might explode in flames from drinking -- drum roll please -- WATER!?

The fracking prank sign is a great reminder that ordinary pranks can bring little-known but important issues into the public awareness. For instance, two minutes ago you didn't know what fracking was, and now you're watching a woman's bathroom get torched:

Pennsylvania may be a nice place to visit, but you don't want to drink the water there.

The DEP's official statement:
We did not place those fracking signs in rest stops across our fracking state.

Spicey is originally from Pennsylvania, and - judging by the horrific stench of them - he can light his farts. He may try to blame his hometown's water, but I think it was the bean burritos.
