I have a pug at home but he is slowly dying. Pretty soon he won't be able to stand on his own becuase of his bad hips, he has a chronic cough that the vet can't figure what is causing it so we have to give him a pill (prednisone) which will eventually shut down his kidneys and kill him. Also, he only has about 7 teeth left because before we adopted him (when he was between 2 and 5)his owners neglected him and let him wander the streets so the chronic mouth issues have been going on for the last 10 years.

What I am trying to say is can I have yourpity clickies new puppy?

Turtle, if you are worried about his kidneys shutting down you can give him Azodyl. We give this to one of our cats twice a day and it has made a tremendous difference (she's lived about three years longer than the vet originally thought she would... she also had a heart condition). We also give her interferon. Ultimately it comes down to a quality of life issue. We had one of our dearest, sweetest and oldest cats put down on Sunday for a myriad of reasons I won't go into but it was the best thing to do for him.

Anyway, here's the story of L'il Sprog, and his nomenclature:

A few months ago, I told my wife that I wouldn't be too terribly opposed to getting a second dog. She, of course, took right to the internet, looking at $600-$800 championship blood-line pug puppies. (Wasn't going to happen, but I let her fantasize.)

My wife also happens to work for a rather large, nationwide, pet supply retailer (I'll call it "PetStupid"). One day last week, a guy comes in and goes up to my wife and says, "I'm moving to Atlanta from New York, and I can't keep this puppy. Do you know anyone who would be able to take him?" I wasn't there, but I'm pretty sure she starting humping the guys face while yelling, "YES! YES! I'll take him!"

She calls me to come over and pick him up. As soon as I saw him, I said, "Aren't you a cute little sprog!" My wife says, "Hey, I like that name. Let's call him that." (His original name was Akilis, which doesn't seem to fit.) She doesn't know that he shares a name with someone on a message board I occasionally post on.

I used to have a pug. One eye and no front teeth. Tongue too big for him to get into his mouth. We named him Quasimodo and called him Quasi.

He committed puppy suicide. He would pester my German Shorthair hunting dog to no end. Now she was good tempered, and put with with way to much of his Shakespeare. He would literally jump up and hang from her neck by his jaws when he wasn't doing his absolute best to dry hump the lower half of her hind legs.

Think Danny Devito on Brigitte Neilson.


She eventually had too much of him one day. One snap and he was an ex-pug.

Last Saturday morning, someone (not related to Zug) on FB posted a funny pug video. I watched it on youtube with my daughter, and then we clicked more and more funny pug videos. Later I took her to her soccer game, and there was a spectator there with a pug. Then this week my daughter decided to get a book about pugs at the library. It's an epidemic!!!!!
