I've never met a creative person who didn't have A.D.D. Most my friends have it, my kids have it, I have it in spades. When I was a kid, it wasn't called A.D.D., it was called Tommy Needs a Spanking!
If you want to know what it's like to have A.D.D., this may help. Turn your TV to CNN while reading a comic book while having a conversation with your friend while ... where was I?
Both my kids not only suffer from A.D.D., they also both have Tourette's syndrome. I'm a Touretter, too. I'll never forget the day there was a tornado warning in our town. Nothing brings a family closer than a tornado warning. There we were, all of us in bed together, waiting out the storm. Everyone was nervous, so the Tourette's was in high gear. Both my kids have a tic that's kind of like a verbal bark, and I'm making all kinds of strange woofing noises. My wife has Tourrette's in surround sound.
All this barking going on, so I try to lighten the mood by singing "Who let the Mabes out? Ruff, ruff, ruff."
Have you seen that movie Multiplicity with Michael Keaton? What a great movie. "I like pizza, Steve." "Did you bring me a monkey?" But I digress, yeah, I recently did a fun prank phone call about A.D.D.
