Workplace Prank: Politically Correct Holiday Memo

Between Christmas, Hanukkah, and Kwanzaa, there's no end to the ways we can inadvertently offend one another during the holidays. Maybe you've accidentally wished "Merry Christmas" to a Jew, or asked, "Does anyone really celebrate Kwanzaa?" to a black man. Whoops!

It's even worse at work. Whether it's the annual office party where Bob in Accounting wears mistletoe on his belt, or those tooth-busting springerle cookies Jane in HR brings every year (which you have to pretend to like), the holiday season at work is fraught with social landmines.

Naturally, in the modern workplace, the solution is to get rid of every possible offensive reference to the holidays, so that everyone somehow feels both included and excluded at the same time.

So we put together this prank holiday sign that you can hang in your workplace to make fun of the politically correct holiday movement.

To get you in the holiday spirit, we're offering a $25.00 Amazon shopping spree to the person who makes us laugh the most with this prank sign. Just hang it up in your workplace, then upload your photo below, by next Thursday December 8, 2011. We'll award the funniest entry a $25.00 Amazon gift card to get your holiday shopping started right.

Happy Multi-Colored, Non-Denominational, Religious (or Secular) Holiday! (If you choose to celebrate.)

I hung it well right in the middle of "cubeland" so everyone could see it on the way to their desks.

I'm sorry but "Merry Christmas" will have to be modified as not to offend those suffering from clinical depression.

You can't spell Christmas without HR.

I hung back and chatted with one of my coworkers to watch peoples reactions for a few minutes after I put it up. It didn't take long for our HR lady, who has started to closely inspect any fliers that get put up for some reason, to find it and take it down.

Spoil sport.

I put mine in the toilets and the back of the doors in the office for maximum contact. Playing ignorant at the moment and waiting to see if someone else notices them first.

I don't know who Jeeni's secret santa victim is, but one of us is about to get a lot of swag.

I hope it's me. I could use some new lug nuts.

Had to be very sneaky with my posting. I work in a busy Emergency room, so not being seen posting the memo would be a challange. First I went with a safe location, the door of the breakroom. Everyone leaving would be sure to see it, just below the company Christmas party flier.

Next a little more bravery would be required. I quickly posted on on the events board (right next to the sign up for gifts for the needed family our department was sponsering).

Finally the hardest posting of all, above the time clock at the nurses station. I waited for a critical trauma patient to roll in the back, and when most were distracted I made my move.

We'll see how long these last before managment sees them.

Someone should tape up a bunch of male, female, and transgendered ginerbread men and snowmen right next to the page.

Congrats to TylerEMT for the brave and hilarious posting of this poster -- we only hope he remains an EMT after this stunt.

We'll be in touch with your Amazon GC.
