Schrodinger's Secret Santa
A comedy conversation by Straw La La La La La La La La 98,023 37

Yesterday I got a package from shirt.woot! There was a t-shirt in the bag and nothing else - no invoice or note or anything to explain who ordered it.

Since I have not ordered a t-shirt and Manhole claims to not have ordered one for me, it is possible that it may be from my Secret Santa. Then again, it is possible that it may not be from my Secret Santa. According to Schrodinger's principle - as long as the identity of the sender is unknown, the t-shirt in the bag is simultaneously from my Secret Santa and not from my Secret Santa.

Appropriately enough, this is the t-shirt design:

Schrodinger's thank you: I may be thankful for my Secret Santa gift. Or I may be the recipient of a woot shipping error. I am both thankful and confused at the same time.

That is Frost-ing cool!!

I like the fact that no cats were (presumably) killed in the making of the shirt.

A cat was both brutally maimed and lovingly petted in the making of that shirt.

Better that than brutally petted and lovingly maimed.

I got another package! I opened the box, and it was a dead cat. Just kidding! But the identity of my Secret Santa was revealed: dinesh!

This was the contents of the box:

(the picture doesn't do the card justice, it is very pretty)

As you can see, this was box 3 of 3, so I guess I'm still waiting for 2 of 3. If 2 of 3 is anything like 7 of 9, I'm gonna have a very good new year.

I couldn't help but notice the coincidence that dinesh was my secret santa, and he was also Manhole's victim. What's even funnier is that Manhole's gift says "Play with my balls, play with my balls," and dinesh's gift is all about playing with balls.

OMG, Buckyballs! HOURS OF FUN. dinesh is a rockin' secret santa. Congrats on both your excellent shirt and collection of magnets, Straw.

I wonder if box 2 got lost along the way? Or maybe numbering the boxes and omitting one number is dinesh's idea of a prank?

Those aren't just any ordinary balls. They're neodymium (Nd2Fe14B) balls.

If I were a scientist, I would make a machine that merged Straw and manhole, and then I would have sex with it.

I didn't mean to convey that I wasn't sure there was another gift. I threw in the "I guess" as an attempt to make the statement of "I'm still waiting" more passive. Otherwise it just seemed aggressive and peevish (I'M STILL WAITING!)and that wasn't how I wanted it to appear.

I have failed at my wordsmithing, and so I am forced to declare my emotions another way.

Hello,
My apologies for the late shipment I have been away and recently returned. [Gift #3] went in the mail this morning and should reach you by Wednesday. PS. I went to elementary school in [city where straw lives]! Enjoy.

Ugh. Well, at least it'll be there soon.

This trilogy dragged on longer than Lord of the Rings, though not as long as waiting for all three Star Wars movies to come out (which in kid years is like multiple decades).

The last package came in the mail on Wednesday. The first curious thing was the way it was put together:

Then there was the name of the sender, which put this song in my head.

When I opened it up and saw what it was, I knew that dinesh had done some sleuthing. Our bottle opener has been hanging by a thread for months, and I wanted to replace it with something that had nerd cred. I had planned to get the Enterprise one on thinkgeek, but the effers sold out (it was the holidays). So I looked on etsy and saw this rather cool bottle opener made to look like a wizard. I put it on my etsy favorites page, because I needed to figure out whether I wanted to pay that much for a bottle opener (albeit a one of a kind, hand forged work of art bottle opener). Then something else shiny caught my attention and forgot all about it. Until now:

Wizard Bottle Opener is judging you!

Thanks dinesh!!!
