The Week in Pranks: It's a Bird, It's a Plane, It's a Warrant for Your Arrest

It ain't easy to be a prankster. Sometimes you have hilarious ideas, but they don't tickle the funny bones of anyone outside the confines of your home office. Sometimes you get arrested for tickling funny bones in a non-funny bone zone.

This week, we bring you a roundup of pranks that could win their creators a nice big subpoena.

Man Dresses up as Speed Camera

The most amazing thing about this prank is that the prankster, Remi Gaillard, hasn't been beaten with a sock full of marbles yet. We know plenty of people who'd like to take out their rage on a traffic camera.

Gaillard, internet-famous French prankster and YouTube star, has been making prank videos since he lost his job in a shoe store. Fittingly, the major way you can tell that he's a man, not a camera, is that his feet are poking out the bottom of his cardboard costume.

In addition to flashing at traffic on the highway, Gaillard has warned a tractor, an airplane taking off, and a train.

This Should Probably Be a Real Law

The city of Halifax, Nova Scotia, has had it up to here with people leaving their Christmas lights up all year round, and will now issue fines on a per-bulb basis, up to $750. (So, like, 3 Euros.)

Except, of course, that Halifax is much too polite to actually institute such a policy. The whole thing was dreamed up by a couple of drive-time DJs with too much time on their hands. This is historically significant as the only time a drive-time DJ has ever had a funny idea.

Flying People in New York City

If we looked out our window and saw this, we would go back to bed, possibly forever. These are radio-controlled planes, shaped like people, flying around New York City. The author of this article says, "I can't even begin to imagine the reactions of people who saw these superhero-like spectacles flying around the city."

No? Well, our New York correspondents tell us they can easily imagine people's reactions to any strange, unexpected flying object in NYC, and it is not hilarity and wonderment. It is TOO SOON for strange flying things in New York, RC plane inventors. Come back in another ten years and we'll let you know if we're ready.

The flying people were actually part of an ad campaign to promote the movie Chronicle.
