Crossing your fingers and hoping your kid gets accepted to medical school is so 1980s. Even worrying about which college your precious snowflake will go to has become passe. Want your child to win a coveted lottery slot at the local Magnet High School? How quaint.
Today's competitive parent starts much earlier than that. With some highly competitive preschools in Manhattan, anxious parents must register the child before it is born. There's "being an involved parent" and then there's "color coded schedules so that all three nannies know where their charge needs to be at any given hour" parenting.
Since few things are more fun than ridiculing wealthy, neurotic, competitive parents, we decided to take it a step further and create a flyer for a career counselor. For babies. Because nobody wants their baby to end up hugging a stripper pole under a disco ball, particularly if that fate can be prevented before the tot is out of diapers.
Our baby counseling professional Xaviera Kline is a member of the North American Association for Networking Advancement and Academics (NAANAA.) You can spread the word about her essential service by printing out this flyer and hanging it in a Mommy and Me yoga class near you. Or visit her at https://sites.google.com/site/babycareercounselor/
