I left my office later than usual tonight, so it was way past rush hour when I took the subway home. There weren't many people near me in the train, just a woman reading a book in the seat facing mine, and a guy sitting two seats over, playing on his cell phone.
At some point during my short trip, a voice came out of the PA system in the train. What I heard can be transcribed like this:- "Attention, att... on... deh... muh... on... meh... dah... guh... deh..." Obviously something was wrong with the PA system, because it was impossible to understand a single word of what had just been said. Nevertheless, the woman sitting in front of me looked up and addressed me, asking: "Did you understand what was just said?"
My answer: "Yes; they just said that they are experiencing techical difficulties with their PA system, but they are working on it, and they thank us for our comprehension."
The woman looked satisfied with my answer, said "Ah", and resumed her reading.

It's like Yiddish or something. Maybe the conductor had a stroke and woke up speaking another language.
The last time I woke up with no memory of what happened, I spoke with a slight lisp for a week.
