The Chinese Tattoo Prank II
A ZUG Link Prank

Note: the symbol above was taken from a bottle of La Choy soy sauce.

One of ZUG's most popular features of all time is the Chinese Tattoo Prank, where Whistler, one of our resident troublemakers, tricked a co-worker into thinking her Chinese tattoo read "bean curd" instead of "inner peace." People love this story because everyone hates a poser, and most people with Chinese tattoos are posers.

Recently we came up with a new prank, an extension of Whistler's original idea. We've created a standalone Web page for Chinese tattoos and their meanings. We've got a hot Asian chick, downloadable stencils, the whole deal. But here's the twist: every Chinese character has the wrong meaning.

Tattoo Symbol They think it means It really means
Dragon Dumb/stupid
Family Pimple/pustule/boil
Love Sex
Strength Weakliness
Zodiac Zero

It's brilliant. It's insidious. It's what you deserve when you get a Chinese tattoo with no knowledge of Chinese language, history, or culture. Our only regret is that there's no Chinese symbol for "poser."

This is a prank that only works if people link to it. Here's how you can help:

1) If you have a blog, Web site, or MySpace page, then please link to our fake page, preferably using the code below:

2) If you hear of someone considering a tattoo, make sure you send them to the permanent page:

3) If you're Chinese, then please keep your mouth shut.
