The IRS is exploring how best to serve its customers through electronic
means. We hope that email will be a cost-effective method for
satisfying your needs.
As part of our continuing efforts to improve service to our customers,
we are inviting tax law related email questions on a temporary basis.
We will respond as quickly as our resources allow. This email service
is a test and will be available only for a limited time. Further, it
only deals with tax law inquiries and does not address individual
tax account matters. If you have an account related question or need
to contact the IRS because you have received a letter, notice, or bill,
please call the number on the correspondence. This number will put
you in touch with your local IRS office.
If you have a tax law related question and the information on our site
doesn't meet your need, we'd like to help. Just select one of the
categories below, provide your email address, and leave your question
in the space provided. Remember you must enter you email address so
we can reply. Also, please note the current response
turn-around-time indicated below.
This is a new system and we have learned that some of the
messages submitted between April 15th and April 20th were
inadvertently lost. If you submitted a question during this period
and have not recieved an answer, we encourage you to resubmit your
question. The problem has been corrected and we regret any
inconvenience this has caused you.
The average response time is currently 1332453.2 business days.
