Arlo and Janis is a comic strip that doesn't get much publicity, but it's funny and quite true-to-life. Quite true-to-life.

I've noticed that Janis is constantly pissed off at Arlo, and I think there's real trouble brewing in that marriage. My idea is that Arlo and Janis go to marriage therapy. Rather than having punch lines for these strips, they would make the audience go, "Aww, isn't that sweet?" much like "For Better Or For Worse".

The "therapy" theme wouldn't have to take long, maybe a month or two. Then Janis would learn healthier ways of dealing with her anger toward Arlo.

Let me know if you need help developing this idea,
John Myers Hargrave

P.S. Do I get any kind of royalty if you use my idea?

Dear Baked,

While you are not alone in your opinion, I think you are too hard on Janis. Her role, unfortunately for her, is to play the straight man for Arlo's incessant and sometimes irresponsible dreaming. Her feet must remain on the ground while Arlo's head is among the clouds. Or at least that's the way she sees it. It is a common matrimonial pattern, I think. I have made a conscious effort to lighten her up, or at least to broaden her role. I don't want to do FBOFW, but I sure don't want to do the "Lockhorns," either. I'll have to think about the marriage counselor bit, but thanks for the suggestion.

P.S. No, you don't get any royalties.
