They didn't respond. That does it. I'm going back to CP/M. Subj: Windows 95!
I represent a small organization called SIC, or Spell It Correctly! As you
may know, countless computer terms are misspelled each year, which can lead
to anything from mild confusion to loss of lives. Saying you want an IRC is
very different from wanting an IRQ! Ha ha!
Our recent campaign has been to educate computer users on the proper spelling
of Windows 95. Many people are not putting a space between the "Windows" and
the "95," preferring to spell it as one word. However, as you can certainly
attest, the official spelling is two words: Windows 95 rather than
Windows95.
Imagine our horror when we examined Microsoft's OWN Web page and saw that
even YOU were spelling it as one word! I demand your attention to:
http://www.microsoft.com/Products/
Can you please let us know what the official spelling is? We've invested a
great deal of time and energy in this cause, and this is the thanks we get?
Tersely,
Subj: Spelling?
Some weeks ago I wrote you about the proper spelling of your new operating
system. At the time, my organization assumed it was "Windows 95", but we're
not sure anymore.
On the packaging there is a space, but in the product itself (on the Start
menu) there is none. And it is still spelled both ways on your WWW site.
So please, let us in on the secret. Is it "Windows 95" or "Windows95"?
We're only trying to help,
UPDATE: The page referenced above has now been fixed. But as long as there is a Microsoft, there will be confusion on the spelling of their products (scroll to bottom of page). |
