ZUG's Printer Pranks: Just Print and Leave Behind! Nowhere is the principle of evolution more observable than in the pile of forgotten printouts that surround communal printers in today's workplace. These orphaned documents have many possible origins -- people send a file to the wrong printer, send multiple copies, or forget that they have printed something in the first place -- but their fate is largely the same. After a brief, brutish existence next to the printer, they wind up in the recycle bin. However, there is an undeniable process of natural selection at work here. Documents that are eye-catching or seemingly important tend to stay around a little longer, getting set off to the side instead of going straight to the bin. These printouts have been specially designed to linger on the table as long as possible: survival of the fittest. Try them at your own workplace -- print them out and see what happens. They're free!
