The Life Of PumpkinCam
by John Hargrave
PumpkinCam went online at 11:19 am on October 16, 1995. A Connectix
digital camera was stuffed into his mouth and connected to a Macintosh
Quadra 840av that took a new picture every fifteen minutes and put
it on the World Wide Web. Clearly there was no better use for such
cutting-edge technology.
After some experimentation, we found that pictures of corporate offices
were pretty boring. So we pointed PumpkinCam at a small collection
of toys that we collected from our co-workers. Employees were encouraged
to move the toys around in a haunting, melodic dance.
You can see PumpkinCam's reflection in the small mirror in
each scene.
Go on. But I'm afraid at what's next.
Go back. I prefer to live in the past.
