Quantcast
The All-American Pumpkin Prank

Introducing The Pieces
by John Hargrave

If there's one word that sums up the experience of opening packages of pumpkin that have traveled around the country for several weeks, it is "stink." All of our pumpkin pranks usually end up with a tremendous mess to clean up, but this one was by far the most unpleasant. For several of the pieces (notably Texas and Vermont), the smell was so intense that I had to tie a bandana around my face, as if I were working with hazardous chemicals, or cleaning John Goodman's underwear.

The pumpkin chunks were in various phases of decomposition, and most were leaking fermented pumpkin juice. Nonetheless, the ZUG audience managed to surprise us, as they always do, with the creativity and style with which they represented their state on a piece of rotting pumpkin.

Enjoy.
