Senator Trent Lott (R-MS)
Former Senate GOP leader who said he was proud that the late Senator Strom Thurmond had won Mississippi in 1948 (Thurmond had run as a segregationist). The infamous line, "If the rest of the country had followed our lead, we wouldn't have had all these problems over all these years," caused such an uproar that it cost the Senator his post. Also voted YES on ending special funding for minority & women-owned businesses.
I'm sure Senator Lott knows a few jokes, but not the kind we're after.
