One of If Not Thee Funniest Book I've Ever Read

I one day came across the ZUG site and was blown away by the intensely funny nature of Sir John's writing. I then heard about the book he was releasing. I knew that if contained stories of the caliber on his site the book would be quite enjoyable. I was not mistaken, for the book was side-splittingly funny. It is one of those books you can reread over and over again.

After you read it through 5 or so times, show it to all of your friends. I got a massive kick out of watching other people read it. They would start to guffaw and chuckle at Sir John sublime comedy and I would join in. Good Times.

Bought this ebook because I couldn't remember an exact story from the book while away from home. John Hargrave is a multi-national treasure and I clearly remember thinking as such when I first read zug.com voraciously as a kid growing up in the late 90s ;)

If you're looking for thrills, look no further than this book, also makes a great level for short legs on coffee tables - show your guests you have got class!

Sadly John Hargrave took down his comedy prank site, zug.com. If you were a fan like I was of it, you'll probably enjoy this book. It's not as good as most of the site had, but it does a decent job of setting up all the different pranks Mr. Hargrave pulled. One of the best ones in the book that I don't remember from the site is when he calls a guy; who was responsible for some really obnoxious spam e-mail ad that the author kept getting, in the middle of the night and kept pestering him until the guy agreed to remove him from his e-mailing list. Other than that, most of the contents in the book were found on the site, so unfortunately those who never experienced zug.com, this book will have to serve as a substitute for the former website. The "Credit Card Prank", my all time favorite prank that I've showed to many friends who ended up falling in love with it; it's here, but it's extremely condensed, All in all, this book has a few parts of different pranks John pulled that I don't remember from the site, but it's not really the same thing. Here's to lost laughter that went missing when zug.com went offline.

It has some of the great content from the ZUG.com website (which has since shut down) John Hargrave is a hilarious person and even though his website isn't around anymore you can still read some of his antics on here.

I purchased this book, as I love pranking people and watching people laugh. This book had many positive reviews, so I purchased a copy for myself. Less than a handful of these pranks had me laughing out loud. But as I continued on, the "pranks" were just downright mean, rude and actually mentally tortured students. These kinds of pranks are not funny. Some were traumatizing, while others were just plain ridiculous. And the amount of money it took for this guy to pull off some of these pranks was such a waste! Donate to a charity or to some starving people for God's sake! 95% of this book was just stupidity. Save your money.....and if anyone knows of a great practical joke book, by all means, let me know.....

Now I'm a part-time clean up man in the private stalls of a pornographic book store. More importantly, though, I have joy in my heart, and an impressive collection of obsolete woodwind instruments.

I was delayed at an airport for 4 hrs, and decided to buy this book at the bookstore. I could not put it down. It made me forget I was so angry for being delayed. Besides his pranks being top notch, his writing really makes you identify with his perspective. You actually also learn a few interesting facts about how particular services or companies work (like how to rid yourself of junk mail). This is a great book; highly recommended.

When I was 13, or so, I submitted my first website for the Zug-o-rific award, which would have resulted in my site being linked to on Zug.com, pending my placement of a gaudy and awful banner at the top of my page. Ultimately, the page was rejected by a man named John Hargrave, who said that the description I had provided for my website was nothing more than a Beavis and Butthead rip-off, and that I can do better, "and WILL". This was thirteen years ago, and it's something that I don't plan on forgetting any time soon.

Many a half-hour was spent during my early teens perusing pranks posted to the Zug website. The website was what inspired me to be interested in computers as a youngster, which served to alienate me from high school cliques, but eventually lead to my current job at a major Fortune 500 company... Eventually I made enough money to buy this book.

Now, with a Kindle in my bag, I can re-visit those days, and have a few laughs along the way. Thank you for writing this book, Sir Hargrave. It's been a blast.

Disappointing, unfunny

Sigh...I should have learned from Gabe Kaplan's book that professional pranksters are a lame lot, by and large. Hargrave is disappointingly no exception. He tries to portray his pranks as brave punking of deserving victims, but mostly he just shows up in unexpected places and does unexpected things to bystanders on the strength of his considerable self-assurance, and looks round for applause. Once in awhile his turns of phrase elicited a chuckle - I liked the description of Budweiser as tasting "like hobo urine filtered through a moccasin" - but chapter after chapter of this book disappoints. His idea of pranking e-mail spammers is to buy their products and test them, illustrating his inconclusive experiments with penis-enlargement drugs with photos of bacon-enhanced kilbasa. Ha. Ha. Half his stunts consist of getting credit cards in the names of famous people and temporarily convincing some overworked cashier to accept them. Most of the time, amazingly, Hargrave proudly reports pranks that were, in fact, bland failures. He *wasn't* allowed to buy a TV when he tried signing the credit card receipt "Not authorized". The Brits *didn't* accept his application to become "Sir". (He just changed his name legally, in the States, to Sir John Hargrave. ROFL). His Michael Jackson impostor was quickly *identified* as such...and so on. Do not waste your money on this lame affair.
